About Chuck Pagano
Chuck Pagano left a legacy in over 30 years of coaching football at the college and NFL levels. He is best remembered for serving as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts for five seasons. While at the helm of the Colts, he became just the eighth coach in NFL history to take a team to 11 win seasons in their first two seasons as HC. Before taking the reins of the Colts franchise, Pagano bounced around the ranks of various colleges and NFL teams. After graduating from Wyoming, Pagano joined USC as a graduate assistant coach. From there, he jumped to other colleges mainly serving as a defensive back coach. In 1995, Pagano joined Butch Davis at the University of Miami and the two stayed together at North Carolina and then to the NFL with the Cleveland Browns. In 2011, Pagano was offered the Defensive Coordinator role with the always stout Baltimore Ravens defense.
In addition to his coaching career, Pagano is revered for his brave battle with cancer. Early into his first season with the Colts, Pagano was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia and had to step away from his coaching duties as he underwent treatment. In the end of the season, the doctors confirmed that Pagano was in remission and returned to his duties as head coach at the end of 2012.
