About Chuck Driesell
Chuck Driesell grew up running after rebounds and fetching water for the players, but he wouldnt have traded it for anything. Driesell loved the game of basketball almost as much as his father, Maryland head coach Lefty Driesell. Chuck followed in his fathers footsteps and played basketball for his fathers Terrapins basketball team. At Maryland he was an Academic All-American and played in 3 NCAA Tournaments. Upon graduation, Driesell joined the military where he worked his way up to lieutenant. After the Navy, Driessel once again followed his father and began a career coaching basketball. He began as an assistant coach at James Madison until he was offered the head coaching position at Marymount University. In 2006, Driesell got the chance to return to his alma mater and work as an assistant coach under Coach Gary Williams for Maryland. After four seasons, Driesell was offered a head coaching position for The Citadel .
