Chris Armas

Chris Armas began his soccer career at Adelphi University where after 4 seasons as a member of the men’s soccer team, he was named as an NCAA First-Team All-American. After graduation, Armas spent two seasons in the USISL with the Long Island Rough Riders where he was selected to the All-Star team. In 1996, Armas went in the first round of the MLS Supplemental Draft to the Los Angeles Galaxy and made an immediate impact on the team. In ’98, Armas was traded to the Chicago Fire where he remained until his retirement in 2007. Armas’ game was taken to a new level with the Fire, leading the team to their only MLS Championship and being named to 4 consecutive MLS Best XI from 1998-2001. Following an ACL injury in 2002, Armas returned to form earning his 5th spot on the Best XI as well as being named the MLS Comeback Player of the Year. Armas also spent 7 seasons with the U.S. men’s National Team, making 66 caps and in 2000 was named U.S. Male Soccer Athlete of the Year.
