About Cecil Shorts
Cecil Shorts III was a professional wide receiver. Shorts attended the University of Mount Union where he played for the Purple Raiders’ football team. Shorts did not play his freshman season as he suffered a knee injury that kept him from playing. As a sophomore, he was the backup quarterback, Upon Pierre Garcon’s graduation, Shorts was switched to wide receiver and immediately became the top receiver. In 2008, Shorts set an Ohio Athletic Conference record for 77 caught passes for 1,484 yards and 23 touchdowns. Shorts was considered a top wide receiver prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Shorts as the 114th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. During his rookie season, Shorts did not receive a lot of playing time; he recorded 2 catches for 30 yards and a touchdown in 10 games. In 2012, Shorts was considered a bright spot on a team that shared the NFL worst record.
