About Bruce Fleisher
Bruce Fleisher was born in Union City, Tennessee and began his golf career as a caddie at age 7. Eventually he used the clubs he was carrying around and became a top amateur golfer, eventually earning a scholarship to play at Miami-Dade Junior College and Furman University. After a stellar collegiate career he took a crack at the 1968 US Amateur and became the youngest player to ever capture the title. The following year he turned pro and went on to win 33 pro events with 18 of those wins coming on the Champions Tour. During his first two seasons on tour he played on both the Eisenhower Trophy and Walker Cup teams and made a name for himself as one of the top young players in the game. He’d go on to win the PGA Club Professional Championship in 1989 and the New England Classic in 1991, earning him PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year honors. In 1999 he won his first two Champions Tour events, which earned him both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. In 2001 he won his most notable title, taking home the 2001 U.S. Senior Open crown.
