About Brent Jones
Brent Jones is a former NFL tight end who spent 11 years in the league, ten of them coming with the San Francisco 49ers. Born in Santa Clara, California, Jones attended his hometown Santa Clara College, graduating in 1986. Following his graduation, Jones entered the 1986 NFL Draft where he was selected in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Five days after being drafted, Jones was involved in a car crash that severely injured his neck, causing the Steelers to release him one month into the 1986 season. In 1987, Jones signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and made his debut that same season serving as backup behind John Frank. In 1989, Jones became the 49ers’ starting tight end, and his play would help them win the first of three Super Bowls during his time with the team. Jones would go on to have a fantastic career, earning four Pro Bowl honors, three All-Pro honors, and helping the 49ers win three NFC championships and three Super Bowls. He finished his career in 1997 with 417 receptions for 5,195 yards and 33 touchdowns.
