About Bob Delaney
Bob Delaney is a former referee in the National Basketball Association. Bob got his start in refereeing as a high school basketball referee in New Jersey while also working as a police officer for the New Jersey State Police where he worked undercover as part of the operation known as Project Alpha. After more than a decade working at the high school level, he began officiating for the Continental Basketball Association for four years before being noticed, and selected to officiate in the NBA beginning in 1987. It was then that he quit the force and focused on officiating. He officiated games from the 1987-1988 season up to the 2010-2011 NBA season. Delaney officiated more than 1,000 regular season games, more than 100 playoff games and had appeared in several NBA Finals games. He even officiated the 1998 NBA All-Star game before he retired. Since his retirement he has co-authored a book and earned his Masters Degree.
