About Bill Bergey
Often credited as one of the greatest linebackers in Philadelphia Eagles history, Bill Bergey is still a fan favorite to this day. His prowess on the field earned him All-American status as well as being voted by the fans as the best all-time player to take the field for his college team, the Arkansas State Indians. Bill was the 31st overall pick in the 1969 draft, and played professionally from 1969 through 1980 for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles. In his 159 game professional career, Bergey racked up 4 Pro Bowl selections, thanks in part to his 27 career interceptions and 21 career fumble recoveries. While doing all of this, Bill also served as a lieutenant in the Army Reserve. Since his retirement, Bergey has been enshrined into the Eagles Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. Now a days Bill is a commentator for Eagles pre and post-game radio and television broadcasts.
