About Babe Laufenberg
Brandon Hugh Laufenberg, nicknamed "Babe," is an American former NFL quarterback and now a prominent sports broadcaster. Hailing from Encino, California, he became his high school football team's all-time leading passer, earning All-American Honors and a scholarship to play at Indiana University, setting records for single-season passing yards (2,468), single-game passing yards (390), and career pass completions (361).
Drafted by the Washington Redskins in the sixth round of the 1983 NFL Draft, he played for the Redskins, San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and Dallas Cowboys. After retiring, Laufenberg became a celebrated broadcaster, serving as a color analyst for the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network for over 25 years, the longest tenure in the network's history. He was a sports anchor for KTVT CBS 11 for 17 years and was named Texas Sportscaster of the Year twice.
One of Laufenberg's sons tragically passed away in August 2019 at age 21 from Burkitt's lymphoma. Laufenberg has shared his son's battle publicly, raising awareness for cancer causes. His keynote speeches touched on his football accolades and broadcast career, but most importantly, his being a father.
