Atari Bigby

After being undrafted, Atari Bigby persevered to forge an eight-year NFL career at safety.  Bigby is best known for his time with the Green Bay Packers and won Super Bowl XLV with the team.  After two seasons in Green Bay, he got a chance to be the starting strong safety.  In that first year as a starter, Bigby won the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award for December.  He finished his career with the Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers.  Bigby played collegiately at the University of Central Florida and was a two-time first-team All-Mid American Conference selection.  He was recruited out of Miami Senior High School and was on the same team with four other future NFL players.  Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem also attended school with Bigby.  His unique first name was not derived from the 1980s video console of the same name.  It was apparently taken straight from the Japanese word that means, “hit a target”.  Bigby was originally born in Jamaica before moving to Miami when he was four years old.
