About Ariel Torres Gutierrez
Ariel Torres Gutierrez captured the first medal in karate for the United States when he won a bronze in the men's kata event at the 2020 Olympics. Torres is also a three-time medalist in the event at the Pan American Karate Championships. He won a silver in individual kata at the 2019 Pam American Games. Torres has a unique background, having come to the U.S. from Cuba at the age of four. He grew up in Miami, just a 15-minute walk from the dojo where he learned his craft.
