About Alfonso Soriano
For a significant part of his career, Alfonso Soriano was one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Soriano was a seven-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger winner. After spending a season playing in Japan, he signed as a free agent with the New York Yankees and quickly became a star. Soriano had two 30 home run, 30 stolen base seasons for the Yankees and led the American League in stolen bases in 2002. He was a standout second baseman early in his career, which carried over to when he was traded to the Texas Rangers in 2004. That season, Soriano was named All-Star Game MVP. He had the best year of his career with the Washington Nationals in 2006, when he belted a career high 46 home runs while also setting a personal best mark with 41 stolen bases. Soriano continued to stand out, albeit as an outfielder, for the next seven seasons with the Chicago Cubs. He wrapped up his career back where it started in 2014 with the Yankees, finishing with 412 career home runs, over 2,000 hits and a .270 batting average.
