World Series Champion Executive Theo Epstein Speaks at Yale Class Day Next Month

Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein is the toast of his sport. He will try to impart vital lessons as the speaker at Yale College's Class Day on May 21st.

Class Day is part of Yale's commencement weekend activities. Epstein's presentation to the Class of 2017 takes place on Old Campus at 2 p.m.

As a 1995 Yale graduate, his appearance should be particularly well-received. During Epstein's time on campus, he was a sports reporter and sports editor at the Yale Daily News.

Prior to graduating Yale, Epstein was an intern for three years with the Baltimore Orioles. In 1996, he joined the San Diego Padres and eventually rose to the title of director of baseball operations.

Epstein became general manager of the Boston Red Sox and helped them erase an 86-year title drought by building the team that won the 2004 World Series. He was the youngest GM to ever win a championship and the Red Sox would repeat on their success in the Fall Classic again in 2007.

This past fall, Epstein watched as the Cubs roster he constructed captured the franchise's first World Series in 108 years. He was recently ranked first on Fortune Magazine's list of the world's 50 greatest leaders.
