World Champion Boxer Joe Smith Jr. Speaks at Ring 8 Monthly Meeting February 23rd

Ring 8 is a group that helps support the National Veteran Boxers Association. They hold monthly meetings and are welcoming one of the sport'ss rising stars next week. 

World champion Joe Smith Jr. will speak to the group on February 23rd at 7 p.m at Plattduetsche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square, New York. He will discuss what is next in his career. 

Annual membership in Ring 8 is just $30. Members guests can attend any individual events throughout the year for just $7.00. 

Ring 8 gave Smith their "Knockout of the Year Award" last year after the fight of his career. He became the first boxer to stop Bernard Hopkins inside the distance. 

Prior to that bout, Smith had won the WBC International light heavyweight title after defeating Andrzej Fonfara via first round technical knockout. The fight was televised on NBC's Premier Boxing Champions card and considered a significant upset. 

Smith sits at 24-1 in his career after originally turning professional in 2009. He won his first six fights before losing to Eddie Caminero.
