UConn Basketball Head Coach Kevin Ollie Hosts Charity Golf Tournament

After returning to his alma mater and winning a national title as a head coach, Kevin Ollie has become entrenched in the UConn community.  That bond continued to grow when Ollie hosted his charity golf tournament to benefit Kevin’s Kourts.

The tournament was hosted at Glastonbury Hills Country Club.  Kevin’s Kourts builds wheelchair accessible basketball courts across Connecticut.

In addition to the golf, attendees were treated to a BBQ lunch and a night of activities following play.  Ollie also spoke to the local media and expressed his excitement for the 2015-15 Huskies basketball season.

After concluding his third season leading UConn, he is now 72-33.  Fans will certainly cherish that improbable 2014 championship run that saw Ollie take the seventh seed Huskies all the way.

Following the title, Ollie was rewarded with a five-year contract extension that pays him $2.8 million annually.   Last season, he was still able to keep UConn competitive despite several departures, going 20-15 and 10-8 in the American Athletic Conference.

Prior to taking the head job in Storrs, he spent three seasons as an assistant to the legendary Jim Calhoun.  That followed a 13-year NBA playing career, which remarkably defied the odds considering Ollie went undrafted after four years at UConn.
