Uber Runs Three-Point Shootout Promotion in Houston with Retired NBA All-Star Kenny Smith

Uber took advantage of Final Four mania in Houston this weekend.  To promote the ridesharing service, they also enlisted the help of a former Rockets great and popular NBA broadcaster Kenny Smith.

On Friday, fans had the opportunity to select KENNY SMITH in the Uber app to challenge him to a three-point shootout.  From 5-7 p.m., those that successfully connected were taken to a private gym for the three-point challenge.

Riders that participated were eligible for prizes, including Uber credit.  Uber ran a Monday promotion that delivered free Final Four-themed Crave Cupcakes in Houston.

Smith had a memorable 13-year career, spending the most successful run with the Rockets.  He is Houston's all-time leader in three-point field goal percentage and won two NBA titles with the franchise.

After being a consensus first-team All-American at North Carolina, Smith was the sixth overall pick of 1987 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.  He was an NBA All-Rookie first-team pick right off the bat, averaging 13.8 points and 7.1 assists in that initial campaign.

Smith joined the Turner broadcasting team during the 1997-1998 season as a studio analyst on Inside the NBA and has remained ever since.  The show has continued to gain critical acclaim during his tenure and he has also branched out to serve as a analyst during the network's NCAA Tournament coverage.
