Texas Rangers Manager Jeff Banister Keynotes UTSA Baseball Banquet February 4th

Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister will be the keynote speaker at an event to benefit one of the college baseball programs in his state. He is scheduled to appear at the University of Texas-San Antonio baseball's Fifth Annual First-Pitch Banquet. 

The event will be held on February 4th at the H-E-B University Center Ballroom. A social hour runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by dinner adn the reception. 

In addition to Banister's presentation, there will be player introductions and 2016 awards handed out. Dinner is being catered by Saltgrass Steak House and admission to attend is $75. 

Banister has led the Rangers to back-to-back playoff appearances in his first two years on the job. After his inaugural campaign, he was named American League Manager of the Year. 

Prior to coming to Texas, Banister was in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization for 29 years. He started out as a player in their minor league system and eventually made his big league debut in 1991. 

After retiring in 1993, Banister went into coaching. He had several stints as a minor league manager before becoming the Pirates major league bench coach from 2011-13.
