Team USA Track and Field Star Nick Symmonds to Hold Meet and Greet on Staten Island

Track and field enthusiasts on Staten Island get the opportunity to meet one of Team USA’s stars on Sunday.  Nick Symmonds is doing a meet and greet through Prorunner Talk at the Hilton Garden Inn from 6-8 p.m.

Symmonds will sign autographs, take photos, and share tips from the track.  Registration is required, but it is free and can be accessed at http://prorunnertalk.com/si/

This is just one of several appearances Symmonds will be making in the next few weeks in the New York metropolitan area.

Symmonds is the reigning 800-meter U.S. champion after successfully defending his title this June.  He has been crowned national champion on five occasions.

Symmonds competed in the race at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.  He also has a silver medal from the 2013 World Championships.

In addition to his prowess on the track, Symmonds is passionate about many causes off of it.  He is particularly vocal about athletes' rights and has spoken out about sponsorship restrictions placed on those in his sport.

Most recently, Symmonds bypassed the opportunity to participate in the 2015 World Championships over the issue.  In protest, he refused to sign USA Track & Field’s statement of conditions that outlines mandated wear of the team’s Nike sponsored apparel.
