Special Olympics Speaker Loretta Claiborne Speaks at Leadership Luncheon

Not many could better inspire than Special Olympics champion Loretta Claiborne.  Next week, she will talk to a Pennsylvania group about being better leaders. 

Claiborne is the keynote speaker at the Dress for Success South Central PA luncheon on March 16th.  The York "Steppin' Up" Leadership Luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Hall 

In addition to hosting Claiborne, the luncheon will also feature door prizes and raffle items.  Individual tickets cost $40.

Claiborne was born with intellectual disabilities, but that did not dampen her resolve as a person.  She has participated in six Special Olympics and has ten overall medals, six of them gold.

During her Special Olympics career, Claiborne competed in a variety of sports, including track, bowling, and figure skating.  Her athletic pursuits did not stop there as shse is also a black belt in karate.

In 1996, Claiborne was presented the Arthur Ashe Courage Award as the ESPYs.  She has also served on the Special Olympics International Board of Directors.
