Retired NBA Standout Rex Chapman Keynotes The Healing Place Fundraiser in March

Retired NBA standout Rex Chapman will always be a revered member of the Kentucky basketball family. He has also overcome a lot in his post-playing life and will speak about some of it at the Louisville, Kentucky-area fundraiser this March.

Chapman is being brought in as the keynote speaker for an event hosted by The Healing Place. The 13th annual Celebrate Freedom Dinner takes place March 11th at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.

Registration begins at 4:30 p.m with a VIP reception at 5 p.m. and dinner at 5:45 p.m. Individual admission to attend is $200 and there are a variety of other packages.

Chapman will talk about his own battles with addiction and how he has overcome them. It will certainly be an informative look into a player's life off the court who spent 12 seasons in the NBA.

Before entering the pros, Chapman racked up over 1,000 points and two All-SEC team selections while with the Wildcats. The Charlotte Hornets then made him the eighth overall pick of the 1988 NBA Draft.

While with Charlotte, Chapman was named to the NBA All-Rookie second team and participated in the Slam Dunk Contest during his third season in the league. He later joined the Phoenix Suns where he would become a fan favorite and take a job in their front office upon retirement.
