Retired NBA All-Star Norm Nixon Keynotes The Los Angeles Times' Multicultural Business Forum

Norm Nixon has been a Los Angeles institution as a basketball player and broadcaster for many years. He got to share his insights from those worlds and how they apply to business pursuits on March 10th at The Los Angeles Times' Multicultural Business Forum.

Nixon discussed how many of the skills he learned in basketball allowed him to perfect his business goals.  Additionally, he said that you have to search out what business you are passionate about.  

Prior to Nixon's keynote, there was a panel of business leaders that also spoke about the importance of sustaining small business.  The evening was held at The Los Angeles Times Chandler Auditorium.

Nixon started his NBA career by playing the first six seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.  He won two championships with the famed Showtime Lakers and led the team in scoring during the 1982 playoffs.  

At the beginning of the 1983-84 season, Nixon joined the San Diego Clippers.  During his first season with the franchise, he made his second All-Star team and was the league leader in assists.

Following his playing career, Nixon became a sports and entertainment agent.  He is also currently the Executive Director of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and has done broadcasting work for the Clippers and Lakers.
