Pro Football Hall of Famer John Stallworth Named Keynote Speaker at Drake State Scholarship Dinner

Drake State has tabbed a very special speaker to keynote their inaugural “Building on Excellence” Scholarship Dinner.  Alabama native and Pro Football Hall of Famer John Stallworth will entertain the crowd at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration in Huntsville on October 27th.

All proceeds from the dinner will go towards academic scholarships.  More information on sponsorships or event registration can be found by calling 256-551-7267.

Before becoming a star in the pros, Stallworth was an all-conference performer at Alabama A&M.  The Pittsburgh Steelers selected him in the fourth round of the 1974 NFL Draft and the rest was history.

Stallworth was a key piece of the Steelers’ dynasty of the 1970s.  He won four Super Bowls during the decade with the franchise.

The three-time Pro Bowler was MVP of the Steelers twice in his career.  His 537 career receptions were a team record until passed up by Hines Ward in 2005.

Following his playing career, Stallworth went into business, founding the Madison Research Corporation.  He sold the company in 2006 and has since become a part-owner of the Steelers.
