Powerade Launches Campaign in Australia Featuring Golden State Warriors Center Andrew Bogut

In a lead-up to this summer's Olympics, Powerade is making a strong play to grow their brand in Australia.  To do so, they are enlisting one of the country's most famous athletes in a marketing campaign.

Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut is featured in the multimillion dollar ad series that spans several different platforms.  He will also be featured on the packaging of the new Mandarin flavor that is being released to coincide with the Games.

Powerade has had a relationship with the Olympics that spans over two decades, having first debuted as a sponsor in 1992.  The tagline on the ads featuring Bogut says "Hydrating Our Olympians".

Unfortunately due to this recent knee injury that Bogut suffered in the NBA Finals, he is unilkely to participate in the Olympics.  He is one of the more senior members of Australia's national team, having competed in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Games.

Over the last four seasons, Bogut has played a vital role in establishing the Warriors run of dominance.  Last season, he was named to the All-NBA Defensive Second Team as Golden State went on to win the title.

After being the number one overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, Bogut spent the first seven years of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks.  In 2010, he averaged a career-high 15.9 points along with 10.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks on the way to All-NBA Third Team honors.
