Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle Speaks at Saint Francis University

On October 12th, Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle made an appearance at Saint Francis University. He spoke at the school's Dr. Zanzuccki Endowed Chair in Business Distinguished Speakers' Lecture Series.

There have been over 20 people to speak at the series, but Hurdle was the first guest from the world of sports. The event took place at the JFK Auditorium.

Hurdle based his presentation on SFU's branding phrase, "become that someone." He also talked about his career in baseball and participated in a pre-speech meet and greet.

Hurdle has been the Pirates' manager since 2011. He helped the franchise reach the postseason in 2013 for the first time since 1992 and was named National League Manager of the Year.

Pittsburgh also made the playoffs in 2014 and 2015. After six seasons on the coaching staff, Hurdle got his first managerial opportunity with the Colorado Rockies in 2002.

He led the Rockies to the World Series in 2007. Hurdle originally got into coaching at the minor league level after a 10-year major league playing career.
