Pasadena Quarterbacks Club Names USC Coach Clay Helton Opening Speaker

The Pasadena Quarterbacks Club has announced some of its schedule for the fall and they are kicking off the speaker series with one of the most prominent sports celebrities in Southern California. USC head football coach Clay Helton will address the group on September 1st.

Helton also spoke at one of the events in 2016. This year, the club will meet at The University Club near downtown Pasadena.

Executives from the Rams (Kevin Demoff) and Chargers (John Spanos) will speak during the fall as well. The Pasadena Quarterbacks Club holds weekly events through late November.

After originally joining the Trojans coaching staff in 2010, Helton became the interim head coach in 2015. Last year, he led USC to a 10-3 record, Pac-12 South Division title and victory in the Rose Bowl.

Helton spent a decade as an assistant, coaching running backs and wide receivers before becoming offensive coordinator in 2007. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Duke before spending three seasons coaching running backs at Houston.

Helton spent time as a quarterback at both Auburn and Houston. His father, Kim, was a longtime football coach in college football and the NFL.
