NFL Legend Emmitt Smith Keynotes Ronald McDonald House Charities Gala

Emmitt Smith is revered throughout the state of Texas for his iconic career with the Dallas Cowboys. On Thursday, he spoke at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Corpus Christi's Casa de Amor Gala.

The event was held at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center. Smith's appearance marked the first sellout for the gala, with proceeds going to operating expenses for the chapter. 

Smith talked up the purpose of the Ronald McDonald House Charities during his presentation. Prior to arriving, he also met with kids at the Ronald McDonald House and played football with them. 

Smith played 15 NFL seasons and spent 13 of them with the Cowboys. He is best known as the league's all-time leading rusher with 18,355 yards. 

Smith was an eight-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All--Pro. He won three Super Bowls in Dallas in the mid-1990s and was MVP of Super Bowl XXVIII. 

In 1993, Smith was the NFL MVP. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame and the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.
