New Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart Named Keynote Speaker at Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame Induction

Newly minted Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart is already lining up speaking engagements.  The UGA alum certainly had no shortage of ties to the state when he arrived in Athens and Smart will serve as the keynote speaker at the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony later this spring.

He will speak at the May 6th event that will be held at the Infinite Energy Center's Grand Ballroom.  In addition to the class of five being inducted, dinner will also be served.

41 people have been inducted into the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame since it was established in 2010.  Each year, the evening raises money for the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation.

Smart hit the ground running at Georgia last month, compiling a recruiting class that was ranked tenth nationally by Rivals.com.  For years, he has been one of the top coaching prospects in football on Nick Saban's Alabama staff.

Since 2008, Smart had been the defensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide.  He won the Broyles Award in 2009 and was named AFCA FBS Assistant Coach of the Year in 2012.

Smart also spent stints under Saban at LSU and with the Miami Dolphins.  He originally started his coaching career as an administrative assistant with the Bulldogs after being a four-year letterwinner at defensive back for the school.
