NBA Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns Holds Youth Camp in Minnesota

After a banner rookie campaign, Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns has become a face of the franchise.  Campers were certainly excited to meet the local star when they poured into the Karl-Anthony Towns Basketball ProCamp yesterday.

Towns is hosting the two-day camp at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka.  Each day's session runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registration was $199 and boys and girls in grades 1-12 could attend.  In addition to the expert basketball instruction, they received an autograph from towns, camp t-shirt and team photo.

In his first season, Towns delivered as the top overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.  He averaged 18.3 points and 10.5 rebounds a game while starting all 82 contests for the Timberwolves.

Towns was the unanimous choice for NBA Rookie of the Year.  He won Western Conference Rookie of the Month during each month of the season and was named Best Breakthrough Athlete at this summer's ESPYs.

Towns played one college season at Kentucky and was named a consensus second-team All-American.  He was also the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year and an All-SEC first-team performer.
