MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred Keynotes the Aspen Institute Project Play Summit

Major League Baseball's Rob Manfred has been aggressive in moving his sport forward since being named commissioner. He will share his progressive outlook on sports as the keynote speaker at the Aspen Institute Project Play Summit.

The event takes place on September 6th at the Newseum in Washington D.C. Thought leaders at the intersection of youth, sport and health will assemble to discuss issues.

The summit is already sold out for a third straight year. In addition to hearing from several speakers, the Aspen Institute will reveal data about youth sports participation.

Manfred became commissioner in 2015 and he has been active in improving pace of play within the game. He has also led the charge to embrace technology in baseball.

Prior to becoming commissioner, Manfred served as MLB's COO. He began working with the league as outside counsel on collective bargaining in 1987.

Manfred first joined MLB in a full-time role as executive vice president of economics and league affairs. He was crucial in negotiating the first drug testing agreement with the players association in 2002.
