Legendary College Football Coach Steve Spurrier Set for Book Signing Tour

Just in time for college football season, legendary coach Steve Spurrier is coming out with his first book.  His memoir, "Head Ball Coach: My Life in Football" will be published on September 30th. 

To promote the book, Spurrier has already lined up several appearances that start late next week.  On September 2nd, he will start the book tour at the Barnes & Noble in Ocala followed by a 2:00 p.m. signing the next day on the University of Florida campus prior to the Gators opening game. 

Spurrier also will make will also make stops in Atlanta at MJCCA Zaban Park and the College Football Hall of Fame on September 7th.  The last currently scheduled signing in September 8th at 6:30 at Books-A-Million in Columbia, South Carolina.  

Spurrier co-authored the book with sportswriter Buddy Martin.  It is a jam-packed 320-page account of the life of one of the sport's living icons.  

Midway thought last season, Spurrier retired after 26 years as a college football head coach.  He spent the last 11 of those at South Carolina, building the Gamecocks into a national relevant program that reeled off three straight 11-win seasons from 2011-2013.  

Spurrier is best indentified for his time as a coach at the University of Florida, where he was a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback in 1966.  He won six SEC titles with the Gators and the 1995 National Championship. 

Spurrier is the all-time wins leader at both schools and ranks second in SEC history.  He has recently returned to Florida to work with the athletic department as an ambassador and consultant.
