Lake Forest College Names Chicago Cubs Owner Tom Ricketts Commencement Speaker

Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts is still the toast of the town after the franchise's World Series win in the fall. On May 13th, he will serve as commencement speaker at Lake Forest College on Chicago's North Shore.

The school's 139th commencement will take place at 10:15 a.m. at Ravinia Festival Park in Highland Park. In addition to speaking, Ricketts will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters.

Tickets are required to attend the graduation ceremony. There will be a live online stream that broadcasts the proceedings.

Ricketts purchased the Cubs from The Tribune Company in 2009. He set forth an organizational philosophy that led to Chicago erasing their 108-year World Series drought.

Baseball America named the Cubs the 2016 Organization of the Year. Ricketts has also paved the way for significant upgrades to legendary Wrigley Field.

He also serves on Major League Baseball's executive council. Outside of baseball, Ricketts is the co-founder and chairman of the investment bank, Incapital LLC.
