Knoxville News Sentinel Names Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro Eric Berry Sports Awards Speaker

Since leaving the University of Tennesee, Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry has only become one of top defensive players in all of football. Next year, he will return to Knoxville for a special speaking engagement.

The Knoxville News Sentinel has selected Berry to speak at their inaugural Sports Awards.  On June 7th, he will highlight the red carpet event that starts at 8 p.m.

Finalists for Player of the Year in each sport will be chosen and a winner will be announced that evening. There will also be other awards handed out, like Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

Berry is currently having one of his best seasons, racking up 74 tackles and four interceptions for the playoff-bound Kansas City Chiefs. He has also been named to his fifth Pro Bowl team.

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2014, Berry bounced back to have a banner 2015 season. He was named a first-team All-Pro for the second time and was the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

The Chiefs selected Berry with the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He was a two-time unanimous All-American and two-time winner of the Jack Tatum Trophy.
