Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir is Fittest Woman in the World Following CrossFit Games Win

The third time was the charm for Icelandic CrossFit athlete Katrin Tanja Davidsdottir.  Davidsdottir rallied from behind to take the title of “Fittest Woman in the World” at the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games.

She was third entering the final day of competition and 33 points off of first place, but stormed back to capture the gold at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.  The 22-year-old finished with 790 total points.

Her impressive win comes after not even making the CrossFit Games field in 2014.  A poor showing on the legless rope climbs at the Europe Regional had cost Davidsdottir her spot.

Two first-time competitors, Tia-Clair Toomey and Sara Sigmundsdottir, finished on the podium in second and third place.  It was a big weekend for the sport that always seems to be surging in popularity.

Davidsdottir can expect business opportunities to come rolling in with her Fittest Woman title.  It also does not hurt that the CrossFit Games was seen all weekend long on the ESPN family of networks.

Davidsdottir is already a Reebok athlete.  She is also the head coach of Reebok CrossFit Katla in Reykjavik.
