Jenny Boucek Becomes the NBA’s Third Female Assistant Coach

The NBA has often been at the forefront of creating a diverse environment in sports. The league took another step last week when Jenny Boucek was hired as the NBA's third female assistant coach.

She joined Dave Joerger's staff with the Sacramento Kings on Friday. Boucek follows in the footsteps of Becky Hammon, who has been a coach with the San Antonio Spurs since 2014 and Nancy Lieberman who spent a season on the Kings staff.

There are also two women who are currently assistants in the NBA"s G-League. Over the years, Boucek has studied NBA teams and visited with several coaching staffs.

Boucek most recently served as the head coach of the WNBA's Seattle Storm for three seasons. She also was the Sacramento Monarchs head coach from 2006-09.

Boucek had two separate stints as an assistant with the Storm and won two NBA championships. She began her coaching career as an assistant with the Washington Mystics and Miami Sol.

Boucek had a brief professional playing career after originally joining the Cleveland Rockers during the WNBA's inaugural season in 1997. She was a two-time All-ACC pick at the University of Virginia.
