Houston Astros Shortstop Carlos Correa Signs Five-Year Endorsement Deal With Adidas

Sports apparel giant Adidas is betting that American League Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa is going to be baseball's next big thing.  They signed the second-year Houston Astros shortstop to a five-year endorsement deal this week.

Correa's business manager did tell the Houston Chronicle that the deal will put his client in Adidas commercials.  ESPN's Darren Rovell also remarked that the pact is "record-setting" although terms of the agreement are not released.

2015 National League Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant is also another phenom from last season signed with Adidas.  There is no question that Correa's popularity is only growing and last weekend his autograph signing at the TRISTAR Houston Collectors Show sold out of 500 tickets.

Correa went on to win AL Rookie of the Year despite not being called up by the Astros until June 8th.  He finished the season with a .279 batting average, 22 home runs and 68 RBI.

No shortstop in major league history has hit more homers in their first 50 games than Correa.  He also set Astros franchise records for most hits and doubles through his first 20 games.

Correa's strong play helped the Astros reach the playoffs for the first time since 2005.  Houston originally selected him first overall in the 2012 MLB Draft and he had been regarded as one of the top prospects in the game prior to his call-up.
