Former WNBA Star Rebecca Lobo Speaks at Girls Symposium

Rebecca Lobo is one of the most prominent female athletes in the history of the state of Connecticut. She was speaking in the state on Thursday at the Connecticut Open.

The Girls Symposium was held at the Courtside Club at the Connecticut Tennis Center. There were around 120 high school athletes in attendance to hear from Lobo.

Lobo discussed the bevy of opportunities high school athletes have in front of them today. She also addressed the sport of tennis specifically and the interest her daughters have taken in it.

Lobo was a part of the University of Connecticut's first undefeated national championship game in 1995. She won several national college player of the year awards that season.

Lobo became one of the WNBA's early stars when she was assigned to the New York Liberty in 1997. She was an All-WNBA Second Team pick that inaugural season and an All-Star in 1999.

Lobo also won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 1996. She is one of the newest members of the Basketball Hall of Fame and has found success in retirement as a broadcaster for ESPN.
