Former Texas A&M Coach Dennis Franchione Speaks at Lamar Football Banquet on August 26th

Dennis Franchione has a significant track record coaching college football in the state of Texas. He is set to make an appearance later this month to help out another program in the state. 

Franchione will speak at the Lamar football preseason banquet on August 26th. The Cardinals first-year coach, Mike Schultz, was on his staff at New Mexico and Texas State. 

Individual tickets can be purchased for $130 and table packages range in price from $1,000-$5,000. In previous years, coaches like Bobby Bowden, Gene Stallings and Barry Switzer have spoken at the event. 

Franchione served as the head coach at eight different programs, with four of them residing in Texas. He started his head coaching career in the state of Kansas at Southwestern and Pittsburg State. 

Franchione went on to coach at Southwest Texas State and Next Mexico. He led TCU to back-to-back Western Athletic Conference championships before being named the head coach at Alabama. 

Franchione coached the Crimson Tide for two seasons and posted a 10-3 record in 2002. He left Tuscaloosa to take over the reigns at Texas A&M and later on helped Texas State make the transition to the FBS level.
