Former Star Running Back Ricky Williams Keynotes Southeast Cannabis Conference and Expo Next Month

Former NFL running back Ricky Williams has long been an outspoken voice for the benefits associated with marijuana use. He will discuss this at length as the keynote speaker at the Southeast Cannabis Conference and Expo.

The event is being held June 9-11 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. It is the first large-scale conference related to cannabis being held anywhere in South Florida.

There will be thousands of participants, including patients, scientists and doctors. Williams will talk about his own cannabis use on a panel called Pro Athletes Pro Cannabis.

Williams ascended to football stardom by winning the Heisman Trophy at the University of Texas. The New Orleans Saints selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft.

After three seasons in New Orleans, he experienced a breakout with the Miami Dolphins in 2002. He led the NFL in rushing and was named a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro.

Williams played several more seasons in Miami, turning in 1,000-yard rushing campaigns in 2003 and 2009. He retired after one final campaign with the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
