Former Pro Wrestler Marc Mero Speaks at YMCA Brunch

Marc Mero has seen the dark side of competing at the top levels of professional wrestling. He shared his story on June 4th at the Staten Island YMCA Counseling Service's 37th Anniversary Brunch. 

500 people turned out to hear Mero's keynote presentation at the Hilton Garden Inn. He talked about how important the quality of happiness is to success and how individuals can choose their happiness. 

Mero talked at length about his struggles with addiction. The brunch's overall goal was to educate the public about addiction prevention, treatment, recovery and immigrant services offered at the YMCA. 

Mero was a four-time New York State Golden Gloves boxer before becoming a wrestler. He joined World Championship Wrestling in the early 1990s under the ring name Johnny B. Badd. 

On three occasions, Mero was the WCW World Television Champion. He went on to make his World Wrestling Federation debut at WrestleMania XII and win the organization's Intercontinental Championship. 

Mero also competed in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. He now an outspoken critic of steroid use and influences lives through his Champion of Choices organization.
