Football fans are bound to learn a thing or two at today's Pasadena Quarterbacks Club luncheon. The guest speaker today is former NFL referee Mike Pereira, who is in town for his weekend gig with Fox Sports. 

The event will be held at the University Club near Old Town Pasadena. Each week, tickets are $25 for members and $35 for guests. 

RSVP is required in advance online. In addition to Pereira, Maranatha High School head coach Steve Brogan will also update the club on his program. 

Pereira is now known to football fans across the country as Fox Sports' rules analyst. Since 2010, he has provided his commentary, when necessary, for the network's NFL and college football broadcasts. 

Pereira has paved the way for Fox and other networks to hire rules experts in many sports. He is the NFL's former vice president of officiating.

Pereira spent 14 seasons officiating in college football with the Big West Conference and the Western Athletic Conference. While serving as an NFL official, he was the WAC's supervisor of officials.
