Former NFL Offensive Tackle Derrick Deese Named Commencement Speaker at El Camino College

Derrick Deese was able to build a lengthy NFL career, but his pro prospects were most likely in doubt when he attended El Camino College in the late 1980's.  Deese can tell that success story when he returns to campus in May as commencement speaker.

He will address the Class of 2016 on May 13th at the El Camino College stadium on campus.   Commencement will begin at 4 p.m. with a reception beforehand at 1 p.m.

Admission tickets are not required for the ceremony.  Tickets are first-come, first-served.

Deese built a life and legacy in the state of California.  Following his college playing days at El Camino and the University of Southern California, he joined the San Francisco 49ers.

Deese would go on to spend 12 of his 13 NFL seasons with the Niners.  He helped the franchise to a win in Super Bowl XXIX.

Known as one of the better linemen throughout his career, Deese made 132 career starts and spent time at all five spots on the line.  He is a member of the Culver City High School Hall of Fame and the California Junior College Football Hall of Fame.
