Former NFL Coach Sam Wyche Speaks at North Augusta Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

The North Augusta Chamber of Commerce brought in a top speaker from the world of football for yesterday's luncheon. Former NFL head coach Sam Wyche was well-received at the chamber's Power Lunch.

Just last year, Wyche received a heart transplant so he now advocates for organ donation in all of his presentations. The bulk of his talk was devoted to exploring parallels between the football field and a business environment.

Wyche spoke about the state of the NFL and various rule changes that are being discussed. He also talked about the teams he currently follows on both the professional and college levels.

Wyche is best known as one of the early adopters of the no-huddle offense in the NFL. From 1984-91, he was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals and set a then-franchise record with 64 victories.

Under Wyche's leadership. the Bengals went to Super Bowl XXIII. He also served as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four seasons.

Wyche had an eight-year NFL playing career before getting into coaching. He spent four seasons as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers and one year as the head coach at the University of Indiana before heading to Cincinnati.
