Former NBA Standout Allen Iverson Hosts Celebrity Summer Classic Next Month

As the last Philadelphia 76ers superstar, Allen Iverson's name still carries a lot of weight in The City of Brotherly Love.  Next month, fans will flock to the annual Allen Iverson Celebrity Summer Classic.

The event takes place on Friday, August 6th.  It begins with a Flashback Friday Block Party from noon to 6 p.m. followed by a Celebrity Basketball Game at 7:30 p.m.

Iverson will coach a team at Temple University's Liacouras Center against stars from the sports and entertainment world.  Ticket prices start at $15 and courtside seats can be had for $100.

Iverson defined an era of NBA basketball.  Despite being just 6'0" tall, he won four scoring titles in a league filled with giants.

The 11-time All-Star was named to the All-NBA first or second team six times.  Iverson's greatest season arguably came in 2001, when he led the Sixers to the NBA Finals and won league MVP honors.

He currently holds the sixth-highest scoring average in NBA history.  This past April, he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
