Former MLB Commissioner Bud Selig to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Sports Business Awards

The Sports Business Awards are a yearly recognition of the very best in the profession.  This year, former Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig will be honored with the event's annual Lifetime Achievement Award.

Selig will accept the designation at the show on May 18th.  It is being held in New York City at Time Square's Marriott Marquis.

Longtime friend and legendary baseball player Hank Aaron will introduce Selig.  Individual tickets to attend are $700 and tables of eight cost $4,500.

Selig served as MLB comissioner for over two decades.  During that period, he oversaw unprecedented growth in the sport, including the escalation of television rights deals and the opening of 20 new stadiums.

Selig guided baseball through the introduction of several innovations, most notably the addition of postseason wild cards, interleague play, and revenue sharing.  He also ushered into reality the World Baseball Classic in 2006.

Currently, Selig holds the title of Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball.  This year, he has begun teaching classes at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University.
