Former Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel Speaks at One Step Forward Event

Former Missouri head football coach Gary Pinkel is still making an impact in Columbia. He was at Douglass High School on Monday to speak at the One Step Forward event.

The forum was created to help at-risk and low-income students continuing stepping in the right direction. 200 pairs of shoes were donated to the high school by Missouri Employers Mutual and Academy Sports to further enforce the message.

The event was hosted by ZOUNation Magazine. Pinkel talked about the importance of having dreams and goals.

Pinkel was the Tigers coach from 2001-15 and left as the program's all-time wins leader. He guided Missouri to three Big 12 North Division titles and one Southeastern Conference East Division championship.

Pinkel was named SEC Coach of the Year in 2014. He previously served as the head coach at Toledo and also holds the Rockets coaching wins record.

Pinkel won the Mid-American Conference at Toledo in 1995 and is a two-time MAC Coach of the Year. He gained a reputation in coaching circles as an assistant on the University of Washington staff for 13 years.
