Former Major Leaguer Scott Podsednik Speaks at First Pitch Luncheon

Former major league outfielder Scott Podsednik honed his craft right outside of Waco, Texas at West High School. On February 1st, he was in the area as the speaker at Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce First Pitch Luncheon.

The event was held at 11:30 a.m. at the Ferrell Center on the Baylor University campus. Podsednik was able to talk about highlights from his career.

Attendees at the event also received season previews from the Baylor baseball and softball coaches. There was a presentation made by the head baseball coach at McLennan Community College as well.

Podsednik made his major league debut for the Seattle Mariners in 2001. While with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004, he led the league with 70 stolen bases.

Over the next three seasons, Podsednik would make the greatest impact of his career with the Chicago White Sox. He was named to his only All-Star team in 2005, the same year the White Sox won the World Series.

Podsednik was instrumental in the victory, hitting a walk-off home run in Game 2 of the series. He played for four other franchises before retiring following the 2012 season.
