Former Detroit Pistons Standout Bill Laimbeer Speaks at YMCA Fundraiser

The "Bad Boys" era of Detroit Pistons basketball will always be looked at fondly by the fans. One of the members of those teams, Bill Laimbeer, made a special appearance talking about that golden era.

Laimbeer was the keynote speaker at the YMCA of the Blue Water Area's Night of Champions fundraiser. The event was held at SC4 Fieldhouse at St. Clair County Community College.

Laimbeer's former teammates Rick Mahorn and James Edwards also spoke. In addition to telling stories from his career, he also talked about the importance of leaving a legacy.

Laimbeer spent 12 seasons with the Pistons and won back-to-back NBA titles in 1989 and 1990. He was a four-time All-Star and still Detroit's all-time leading rebounder.

Laimbeer was the 19th player in NBA history to collect over 10,000 points and 10,000 rebounds. His 665 consecutive games played streak ranks fifth in league history.

Laimbeer's #40 jersey is retired by the Pistons. He has gone on to have success as a WNBA head coach, winning three league titles and being named WNBA Coach of the Year two times.
