Former College Basketball Coach Dick Bennett Speaks at Portage Boys Hoops Club Tip-Off Gala

Former college basketball coach Dick Bennett is an institution in the state of Wisconsin.  On November 12th, he will be in Portage to speak at a special event. 

Bennett is the keynote speaker at the Portage Boys Hoops Club's Season Annual Season Tip-Off Gala.  The evening begins with a social hour at 6:15 p.m. at Portage High School. 

At 7:15, Bennett will address the crowd.  Adult tickets to attend are $20 and youth admission is $10.  

Bennett is best known for coaching at the University of Wisconsin for six years.  He made three NCAA Tournament trips and led the Badgers to the Final Four in 2000.

Following his UW tenure, Bennett also spent three seasons at Washington State.  Before arriving in Madison, he coached Green Bay to their first three March Madness berths.  

After over a decade as a high school coach, Bennett's college coaching career began at the NAIA level at Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  In 1984, the Pointers went 28-4 and were NAIA runner-ups.
