Former Baseball Slugger Jose Canseco Keynotes Mercer Baseball First Pitch Classic February 7th

One of baseball's most notorious home run hitters of all-time is speaking at an event for the Mercer Baseball program. On February 7th, Jose Canseco will be in attendance at the program's First Pitch Classic. 

The event takes place at Hawkins Arena and starts with an autograph session at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and Canseco's presentation will follow. 

Autograph tickets are $75 and dinner seats cost $100. Several prominent baseball names have spoken at the event before like Roger Clemens, Chipper Jones and Pete Rose

Canseco had a 19-year major league career spent with six different franchises. He ranks 35th in baseball history with 462 career home runs, 

Canseco became a sensation in the late 1980s with the Oakland A's. He made five of his six All-Star teams while with the A's and helped the franchise win the 1989 World Series. 

The year before winning the Fall Classic, Canseco took home American League Most Valuable Player honors. Since leaving the big leagues, he has has various stints in indepedent league and adult league baseball.
