Five-Time MLB All-Star Torii Hunter Keynotes Hometown Church Event

This weekend, former All-Star outfielder Torii Hunter made a visit to his hometown of Pine Bluff, Arkansas to take part in the city's celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was the keynote speaker for the Justice Sunday Program at First Assembly of God Church.

The appearance was part of a week-long list of activities for KingFest. Hunter had the privilege of being introducted by his father, Theotis, on stage.

Hunter spoke about the uncertainty he had early in his career and the importance of mentors to get him through it. He also spoke about unifying to improve Pine Bluff.

Hunter retired in 2015 after a 19-year major league career. He was a five-time All-Star and one of the finest defensive center fielders of all-time, winning nine Gold Gloves.

While Hunter regularly dazzled with the glove, he also collected over 2,400 hits and 350 home runs in his career. He came up with the Minnesota Twins, led them to the playoffs four times and is a member of the team's Hall of Fame

Hunter also made postseason appearances with the Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers. He spent one final season with the Twins in 2015 and hit 22 homers with 81 RBI.
